Grip of Warding a waste?
Hey i collect Dmg +15% while in stance axes and then mod them in my own ways, i was wondering if the Armor +7(vs. ele attacks) grip is a waste, cause im not sure if i want to sell it or keep it and slap it on. I have 3 other axes that i cycle through pendinn on what im fighting so would this be handy for fighting ele's in PVE? Any idea? And does this also have +7 for spells like maelstorm and fire storm and fire ball, etc.?

It's a perfectly good mod; if you have the patience to weapon swap in certain areas. It adds armour against any elemental spell which doesn't ignore armour. And that includes all the spells you mentioned.

Also in PvP, whenever another warrior or ranger attack a warrior, they will almost always switch to an elemental weapon (if they are decent). At this point, that +7 armor going to give them a let down. However, it is up for debate against "+5 armor vs all", while this will be rated higher than "+7 armor vs physical".

There has been lots of back and forth debate about the +armor weapon mods ... personally, I use both warding and shelter +7's in PvE, and a flat +5 defense in PvP ...
Reason being: you can be 100% sure that siege ice golem is going to be elemental attack (icy), the fire imp = fire attacks, etc so you can switch to the warding ... and switch back to shelter against melee-critters. PvP, however, a normal bow/sword/axe/hammer etc. looks absolutely no different than the fiery/ebon/icy/shocking counterpart of the same type, and I wouldn't expect an opponent to stop and answer an all chat question like *pause in fight* "pardon me 'ol chap, do you happen to be using any elemental-modifiers on your weapon?" "Why yes sir, yes I happen to be using a fiery bow string now that you mention it" "Ahh very good then, very good. I shall equip my vampiric flamberge of warding then. Have at you!" *fighting resumes* |

I would rather have +5 armor vs. all even though it is 2 AL lower, you don't have to switch all the time.

I don't think I would bother switching all the time. I'd just use the +7 vs. Elem on a war and +7 vs. Phys on a ranger. Help cover their weaknesses. After all, once you get up to the 100AL range, an additional 5AL likely will only reduce the damage by 1 or 2, if that, on most attacks.

I think its a waste if your fighting melee guys obviously...but if your going to go kill lots of eles or fighting an ele in PvP, it might not be as bad.
